Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) & The Seven Caring Habits

Kids at assembly.

Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)

Odyssey Anchors:

At Odyssey, we love celebrating our students' positive actions! We believe it is important to focus on their thinking and efforts to create a more caring and enriching learning environment. By preteaching these anchors, we set kids up to understand what helps drive a successful student, team, and school. Learning to embody these anchors is a process that takes place over the student's educational time at Odyssey. We hope these anchors will set our students up for success in their future and help them work for a more just world.

The Seven Caring Habits:

Supporting

Encouraging

Listening

Accepting

Trusting

Respecting

Negotiating Differences

The most basic thing these seven habits have in common is that they are all “win-win.” Add the phrase, “to or with one another,” after each of these habits and you will begin to understand how these concepts support a successful community. The Odyssey Program promotes the Seven Caring Habits to help create an environment in which cooperative learning thrives. Kids get to be seen and share when they see others showing these caring habits. We believe that when kids use these caring habits, they work best on a team and within their multiage cluster.
